I gave up on Fiverr because it was almost becoming a dictatorship, in addition to the increasingly high commissions, among other factors.
I searched for alternatives and joined freelance platforms such as Guru(dot) com, Freelancer(dot) com, and PeopleperHour (dot) com, among others.
The problem is that the prices were high. You post "jobs" and then the freelancers who send you messages with proposals ask for triple the price.
For example, converting a word eBook to ePub costs around $30, but depending on the number of pages, they would charge me $50 or $60.
Proofreading texts in English or French was around $10 for every 1000 words, but then in a private message they wanted to charge you $25 for every 1000 words, etc.
There was never a fixed price; microtasks (Gigs) were too expensive—triple the prices charged on Fiverr!
I gave up on so much exploitation and a lack of transparency.
Fortunately, I found two alternatives:
The Sprout Gigs
And Fourerr
Gig prices are fixed; if there are prices of $8 or $10 for some Gigs, that will be the price.
Sprout Gigs only accepts VISA cards to load funds into your eWallet. Unlike Fourerr, which I like more, they accept PayPal.
You can hire freelancers and pay easily and securely with PayPal. Technical support is also good; the admin responds quickly to tickets.
On Fourerr the commission is also 20%, identical to on Fiverr, but they assured me that they will lower the commissions.
On this site, you will find numerous Freelancers/Gigs for everything; be it marketing, ghostwriting, proofreading, article writing, SEO, visits, and followers for social networks, eBook cover design, logo design, etc.
You can also sell your services there, as freelancers, and earn extra bucks.
